When I arrived at the stables I was handed the reins of a mini pone, around 10-11hh. I was not pleased, it was waaay too small and I knew it wouldn't be able to keep up with the two other horses, who were both around 15hh. He seemed sweet enough anyway, but I was made to feel pretty stupid when the instructor insisted I needed a leg up onto this horse. I can mount Becky from the ground, for goodness' sakes, and she's nearly 14hh. When we eventually began to ride, we just walked and trotted for ages. Eventually we did two circles of the school in canter. Wahey. I felt so stupid, because the stubborn little pone I was riding hadn't been taught to trot in a straight line! I was so embarrased, but I kept going and we did some satelliting, which was easy enough, and some tricycling, which was not easy and the horse behind kept charging into GP (my pone)'s bum because GP was so much slower. At the end it began to hail.
Oh, and did I mention GP bucked whenever a tapped him with the whip?
All in all, not the best lesson ever.
